Its moving

When people knock on your door and press copies of hand-written letters (that they have to provide in triplicate into officialdom) to the Planning Inspectorate to say how the tens of thousands of construction lorries, diggers and other vehicles will blight their lives. The residents of the old people's home (though its not called that) will suffer, not just through the noise and dirt, but the loss of a quiet walkway. There are times it is simply staggering to think that such a brutal act of greedy over-development can be countenanced, let alone be allowed. But that's the risk.

Hello...being from the US, and having been to the UK three times (once for 6 months and most recently Feb. 07) one of the best things the UK holds on to it's history and treasures its past...something we here in the US have NO concept of. There is no history here to show our kids. We constantly tear down to put up new. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE....do NOT allow this construction to go on. There is plenty of empty space in the UK for develpment. This history needs to be preserved otherwise the UK will start to look like all the many strip malls and office parks here in the US. LGS is a living history...please let it live on as is. Best, Rob
